Latin America and the Caribbean

Latin American and Caribbean countries are rapidly ageing but vary in their levels of socioeconomic development, and social welfare policies to support older adults.

Family members are an important source of support for older adults in the region. Therefore, it is important to examine changing patterns of family size and structure, as well as how these influence older adults’ health and wellbeing.

My research examines topics of family availability and living arrangements, intergenerational support, and their linkages to the health and wellbeing of older adults across the diverse socioeconomic contexts of Latin America and the Caribbean.
