South East Asia

South-East Asian countries are rapidly ageing and Thailand is among the fastest ageing countries within the region. Despite improvements in social welfare policies for the care and economic wellbeing of older adults, children remain a primary source of support for older Thais. These demographic, institutional, and cultural conditions raise questions about older Thais’ reliance on formal and informal support and the implications for their well-being.

As a postdoctoral fellow in the College of Population Studies at Chulalongkorn University, I primarily examined topics on family relations and their associations with the health and wellbeing of older Thais.
